As children are particularly cherished in Eastern Europe, much is given them such as this sports and hobbies complex where admission is free. One of the special attractions of this facility is the Cosmonaut Room where a child can spin on an apparatus simulating space travel. |
Named common seal throughout Europe, the harbor seal (Phoca vitaluna) is freque ntly observed around Long Island and lives along the shores of eastern Canada, New England and in the winter, as far south as the Carolinas in a variety of ha bitats. Their scientific name loosely means sea calf or sea dog. This harbor seal , at the New York Aquarium, pops its head out from the surface of the water res embles a dog. The diet consists mainly of inshore shallow water fish species, such as flounder, sole, herring, cod, whiting and eel, but also mussels, crabs and squi d are eaten. |
